PAT Testing Guide

Getting Started

The PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) system allows you to record and track electrical equipment safety tests. This guide will help you create accurate and detailed PAT test entries.

Room Information

• Room Name/Location (Required): Enter the specific location where the equipment is situated.
• Multiple Items: You can test multiple items in the same room by using the add item button.

Test Details

• Test Date:
  • Automatically set to today's date
  • Can be adjusted if entering historical tests
  • Must be before the renewal date
• Renewal Date:
  • Automatically set to one year from test date
  • Updates automatically when test date is changed
  • Can be manually adjusted if needed

Item Information

• PAT Test Code (Required):
  • Enter a unique identifier for the item
  • Use consistent coding system for easy tracking
• Description (Required):
  • Provide detailed description of the item
  • Include make, model, and serial number if available
• Test Result:
  • Select Pass or Fail from the dropdown
  • Defaults to Pass
• Comments:
  • Optional field for additional notes
  • Particularly important for failed items
  • Include any remedial actions taken

Managing Multiple Items

• Adding Items:
  • Click the green "+" button to add another item
  • Each new item will have today's date pre-filled
  • Add as many items as needed
• Removing Items:
  • Click the red "X" button to remove an item
  • Confirmation will be required before deletion
  • At least one item must remain in the form

Submitting Your Entry

1. Verify all required fields are completed
2. Check that dates are correctly set
3. Ensure PAT test codes are unique
4. Click the "Submit" button to save all entries
