Fire Extinguisher Location Management Guide
Getting Started
The Fire Extinguisher Location system allows you to record and manage the locations and types of fire extinguishers throughout the facility. This guide will help you create and manage fire extinguisher location entries accurately.
Important Note: Each location must have at least one type of fire extinguisher selected. Make sure to provide accurate location descriptions for emergency situations.
Creating a New Location Entry
- Location Name (Required): Enter a clear and specific location description that can be easily understood during emergencies.
- Type Selection (Required): Choose at least one type of fire extinguisher present at the location.
Tip: Use specific landmarks or room numbers in location descriptions to make them easier to find.
Fire Extinguisher Types
- Water: Suitable for Class A fires (solid materials like wood, paper, and cloth)
- Dry Powder: Versatile type suitable for Class A, B, and C fires
- Foam: Effective for Class A and B fires (flammable liquids)
- CO2: Ideal for electrical fires and flammable liquids
- Chemical: Specialized extinguishers for specific chemical fires
- Fire Blanket: For smothering small fires or wrapping around persons
Note: Multiple types can be selected for a single location if different extinguishers are present.
Best Practices for Location Descriptions
- Include the building name or number if applicable
- Specify the floor level for multi-story buildings
- Reference nearby permanent fixtures or landmarks
- Use cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) when helpful
- Keep descriptions concise but detailed enough to be useful
Example: "Building A, 2nd Floor, North Stairwell" or "Main Warehouse, East Wall near Loading Dock 3"
Submitting the Entry
- Verify the location description is clear and accurate
- Confirm at least one fire extinguisher type is selected
- Review your entry for any errors
- Click the "Submit" button to save the location
Note: After submission, you'll be redirected to the fire extinguisher locations overview page. Entries can be managed from there if needed.
