Extractor Fan Location Creation Guide
Getting Started
The Extractor Fan Location system allows you to record and manage the locations of extractor fans throughout the facility. This guide will help you create accurate and detailed location entries.
Important Note: Each extractor fan location must have both a unit number and a specific location description for proper identification and maintenance tracking.
Required Information
- Unit Number (Required): A unique identifier for the extractor fan unit
- Location (Required): A clear description of where the unit is installed
Tip: Use consistent naming conventions for unit numbers to maintain organization and avoid confusion.
Entering Unit Information
- Unit Number Field:
- Enter the designated unit number for the extractor fan
- Use the standardized format for your facility
- Ensure the number hasn't been used for another unit
- Location Description:
- Provide a clear, detailed description of the unit's location
- Include relevant building sections or area identifiers
- Use standard terminology for consistency
Best Practices for Location Descriptions
- Include the building or section name
- Specify the floor level if applicable
- Reference nearby permanent fixtures or room numbers
- Use cardinal directions when helpful (North, South, etc.)
Tip: Clear, specific locations make it easier for maintenance staff to locate units quickly during inspections or repairs.
Submitting Your Entry
- Double-check both the unit number and location for accuracy
- Ensure both fields are filled out completely
- Click the "Submit" button to save the new location entry
Note: After submission, you'll be redirected to the extractor fan locations overview page where you can verify your entry.

- The system will automatically record:
- The date of entry

- The entry in the maintenance database
- The new location will be immediately available in the system for:
- Maintenance scheduling
- Inspection records
